Birthday celebrations

My friend and I put together a birthday surprise for our best friend Geeti. I made some savoury and desserts, Ren made some awesome Creme Brulee, scones and an amazing cake.

What's a high tea without decorations?

I made some doily bunting out of doilies I cut up. Really easy and quick and looks cute too.

Every celebration needs bunting..I made these for our house warming and they've come out for every party I've had since.

All set up, ready for a high tea lunch.

A baby's thanksgiving

My friend had a baby's thanksgiving for her gorgeous little Sarah M. not that long ago, so I thought it'd be a good opportunity to bring out my Amy Butler book for little ones and start sewing. I made a Snuggle Wrap Blanket from corduroy, flannelette and cotton.

I hope it fits! She did look a little tall and older than I remember, the pattern was for a 6-9mth baby.

Crème Brûlée

Here's my attempt at Crème Brûlée, I had half the amount of cream needed so they didn't quite fill the ramekin. I had fun using the cooks torch and eating it mmm...

Teapot Cozy

With the cooler months, I have been drinking a lot of tea lately. I stumbled across an awesome book on tea cosies - 'Really Wild Tea Cosies' by Loani Prior. There's some really wacky looking cosies but they're all a bit of fun, the pictures make me want to make them all - now the trouble is I don't have enough tea pots!

The book encourages to make a lining as well as the top tea cosy, so that's why it looks like I've got two tea cosies here, I place the teepee looking one on top of the snuggly fitted one and put stuffing between the two layers to fill it out. It helps the teepee keep it's shape and also keeps my tea warmer longer!

Here, I'm attaching the pompoms to the base of the cosy.

 I had a lot of fun making these poms poms! I got good use out of my pom pom maker, so it didn't take long at all...

All finished! Time for some tea I think :)



Sewing Party

For one of my lovely Friends' birthday, my friends and I came up with a sewing/craft party. So we got together and my first sewing party was created! It could be a possibility for the future...?

We made felt pin cushions and flowers to pin in our hair, one of us even managed to squeeze in a key holder.

Toadstools!

We've had a lot of rain recently and toadstools seem to be popping out of everything, even my pot plants indoors! When I found these outside I couldn't resist taking photos of the pretty little things :) They also mean nice indoor weather to do more sewing!!

I am back!

It has been ages since my last post, my apologies, but I do have a back log of things I want to share!!!
My sister in law and I got these a long long time ago, but they're still exciting to look at - especially all the yummy colours. I can't wait to use them with all the market items I will be making :)

Baking and my secret weapon

My Kitchenaid does everything, I bet if I walked away and came back an hour later I could find a loaf of bread waiting to be eaten...

Today I spent my morning baking bread and hanging out with my mum. Love the smell of bread and apple pie baking in the oven .. mmm

Summer Holidays

Back from holidays. That's my crotchet jumper made out of alpaca, acrylic and virgin wool.

I've almost finished the front and the back of the jumper... now to crotchet the arms.

Millie doesn't look too impressed. That's ok, I'll make her another pretty jumper...

This box of handmade items wouldn't have magically appeared if it wasn't for my friend - y - as I so lovingly call her. She has been - in a nice way - bugging me to sew and sell my handy works ... I am getting it out there,.. slowly with the help of my friends :)

Here's something I can honestly say I have designed myself...
I've recently started to like large letters to put on display on my bookcase, looking at wooden ampersands on etsy inspired me to make my own 'stuffed' ampersand out of a pre-loved oversized khaki jacket. I love recycling!

Mr Owl

Mr Owl is made from a 100% cotton recycled napkin, 100% cotton jacket, felt and cotton thread. He is filled with polyester filling. I'm now making Mrs Owl...
